Thousands of protesters clashed yesterday at a march in a central Sydney park, divided on the American-led strikes on Afghanistan.

Sympathizers with the United States clashed yesterday with protesters demonstrating against the American-led strikes on Afghanistan at a march in a park.

Anti-war protesters chanted "Shame! Shame!" at a small group of people wearing T-shirts emblazoned with the message God Bless George W -- referring to U.S. President George W. Bush -- and carrying American flags. About 2,000 people had gathered in Sydney's Hyde Park to oppose the bombing of Afghanistan and Australia's commitment of 1,550 soldiers as part of a countrywide day of protests. Source.
