(Daily Telegraph) PRINCE Charles will marry his long-time love, Camilla Parker Bowles in April, Clarence House announced last night.
The wedding will take place on April 8 – shortly after his visit to Australia – probably at the Queen's residence, Windsor Castle.
Mrs Parker Bowles will take the title HRH Duchess of Cornwall.
Charles made the historic announcement shortly after 8pm Australian time, bringing to an end years of speculation about their relationship, which has spanned 33 years.
Their love affair continued through both their marriages, including Charles' ill-fated betrothal to Diana, Princess of Wales.
But the announcement may stir up controversy among church leaders. Some of them are opposed to the Prince – who is heir to the throne and would become head of the Church of England – marrying a divorcee whose husband is still alive.
